Pencil and Gouache drawings of Babies and other Precious Things
When I was pregnant with Olympia, I had to stop painting the way I was accustomed to. No toxic pigments. No hazardous materials. No fumes. Once she was born, no more than 15 minutes at a time. I wasn't sure how I would move forward having to abandon so many of the skills I had developed for so many years until I remembered some advice I had gotten from a friend and painter about getting over difficult creativity obstacles. Go back to basics. Draw. I put away the 5-foot canvases, oils, and enamels, and picked up my pencils, paper, and gouache. Some of it is from life, some of it is from photographs, and some is just plain made up.
